The lesson: A beginners lesson will last for 45 minutes, showing you 3 or 4 of the basic moves. It will take most people just 6 to 8 lessons to master the beginners moves and then you’ll be ready to move on up to the intermediate classes……it’s as quick and easy as that to learn.

One of our students mid spin!
Join Any Week: Our classes are not a course. There's a rolling programme of lessons with different beginners moves taught each week - they come around again every 4-8 weeks on rotation.

The Freestyle after the Classes: This is your chance to practice what you've learned and a chance to take a break, get to know the other students and to watch people enjoying their dancing.

Partners: You don’t need one, but if you have one that’s great, it really doesn’t matter either way. Jive is very friendly and mixing with new people is easy, so it’s also a great way to meet and make new friends. Whether you come with a partner or not, all students are expected to join in with the partner rotation to ensure that they learn this social dance in a social setting, dancing with a mixture of partners with different dance experience levels.

What do I wear? No special clothes required. Just wear something that allows easy movement. And layers are good as you will get hot and want to take something off to cool down. No special shoes required, but nothing too grippy like trainers as there is spinning/turning.

Age - This is an adult class, we do allow 14+ if accompanied by parents or guardians, But, for child protection reasons, can not allow under 14s.

Spectators and Facilities: Lessons are not suitable for spectators - some people don't like to be watched when they're absolute beginners - so you'll just have to take the plunge and have a go yourselves!

Finally, learning to Jive opens the door to a great social scene!
As jive is a social dance you meet new people and make new friends. And there's social events every weekend. Themed parties, live bands, charity events, dance holidays, etc, etc. Click on the link below to see our website with details of the programme for the next month.
